Our topic this half term is focused on ‘Famous People and Me’.  We will incorporate literacy and technology to explore different famous people. We will also be looking into what we have in common with famous people. We will begin by exploring famous people and discussing who we as a class would like to research each week, we will then take a deep dive, learning facts about different famous people, the reasons why they are famous, and how this may affect us and our views.

Admiral Class will be taking part in gymnastics as our focus in P.E this half-term. We will also be continuing with swimming at the Dorking Leisure Centre. This half-term we will be building on our stamina and completing more widths.

During Literacy, Admiral Class will be completing a phonics lesson each week and completing different fine motor tasks to support with their writing. We will be starting a class book and continue to take turns in group reading sessions. Our Literacy sessions will also provide a link to our topic, and we will complete reflection work each week to continue developing our spoken language skills.

In Maths, we will be focussing on length and perimeter. By the end of this half term, students will be able to measure, compare, and calculate the length and perimeter of various shapes using appropriate units and formulas, and apply this knowledge to real-world problem-solving scenarios.

Within Science, we will be focusing on Chemistry. In these lessons we will be learning about soil and the importance of it. We will be exploring different types of soil, what properties it holds and how it changes depending on its location.  

This half term we will be enjoying a variety of  community visits including our Sayers Croft  activity day, Mercedes Benz World and the cinema. We will also be visiting Dorking Library to look at the books they have on offer along with visits to garden centres and supermarkets to buy our cooking  ingredients.
